A long time ago, Ibrahim (Alihe Alslam) had a dream. In that dream, Allah sent a message that Ibrahim was to sacrifice his son, Ismail, as a sign of devotion and obedience to God.
The devil tempted Ibrahim, saying that he should disobey Allah and spare his son.
But Ibrahim ignored the devil, and as Ibrahim was about to sacrifice Ismail,. Allah stepped in and gave Ibrahim a ram to sacrifice instead.

And then He ransomed him with the ram, and Ibrahim sacrificed it instead of Ismail.

Story of Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail

Story of Prophet Ibrahim and Ismail in the Quran
our Quran quotes as saying:
فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ السَّعْيَ قَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ إِنِّي أَرَىٰ فِي الْمَنَامِ أَنِّي أَذْبَحُكَ فَانظُرْ مَاذَا تَرَىٰ ۚ قَالَ يَا أَبَتِ افْعَلْ مَا تُؤْمَرُ ۖ سَتَجِدُنِي إِن شَاءَ اللَّـهُ مِنَ الصَّابِرِينَ (102)
(102) And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, “O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think.” He said, “O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast.”
فَلَمَّا أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُ لِلْجَبِينِ (103)
And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,
وَنَادَيْنَاهُ أَن يَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ (104)
We called to him, “O Abraham,
قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ الرُّؤْيَا ۚ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ (105)
You have fulfilled the vision.” Indeed, we thus reward the doers of good.
إِنَّ هَـٰذَا لَهُوَ الْبَلَاءُ الْمُبِينُ (106)
Indeed, this was a clear trial.
وَفَدَيْنَاهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٍ (107)
And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,
وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الْآخِرِينَ(108)
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
سَلَامٌ عَلَىٰ إِبْرَاهِيمَ (109)
“Peace upon Abraham.”
كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِي الْمُحْسِنِينَ (110)
Indeed, we thus reward the doers of good.
إِنَّهُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (111)
Indeed, he was one of our believing servants.

What is the main message of Eid Ul- Adha?
Eid-ul-Adha is observed on the tenth day of Dhu al-Hijjah. The festival is celebrated in order to honor the sacrifices made by Prophet Ibrahim due to his strong faith in Allah
This day teaches us the lesson of the ultimate sacrifice of our most valuable possession to show our love and trust in the Almighty God.
