The Story of the Number Two (2) for Kindergarten
The teacher reads the story, writes it on the board, draws a 2, and says:
The number two visited his friend at home, and they began playing in the yard. Then the friend of number two said to him, “I’ll go and see whether my mother is home or not.”
Number two asked, “Why, my friend?”
He replied, “My mother is making delicious cake. I heard her say she put two cakes in the kitchen for my grandmother, and I’m going to take one of them.”
Number two said, “Don’t, my friend! Do not do that — God will punish you.”
But the friend didn’t listen. He went and got a chair to try to reach the two cakes. When he failed, the plate slipped and the cake crumbled to pieces.
So number two said to him, “This is the reward for greed and bad behavior.”
The friend said, “You’re right, Two. I won’t do this again, and I’ll apologize to my mother.”
The mother or teacher then tells what we learn from the story:
- Do not take what belongs to others.
- Obey your mother and ask her permission.
- Bad deeds have bad consequences.
- Follow the rules of safety.
- You must apologize when you make a mistake.

while drawing the shape of the number on the board and reciting with gestures:

I am two………………… I am two
I have two eyes……………… they see
I have two ears……………….. they hear
I have two feet………………. they walk
I have two hands………………… they clap
I am two……………….. I am two
